Nanoferrites
Nanosized ferrites are important materials utilized in various applications ranging from home appliances to most recent magnetic tunnel junction as well as environemnt related applications. Though mechnism of magnetism in bulk ferrites are well established, though it remains obscure in nanoferrites especially when doped by rare earth ions and irradiated by swift heavy ions
In nanoferrites spin-canting and spin frustration complicates the mechanism of magnetization. It is also mysterious that how nanoferrites reduce magnetization when doped by rare earth ions of relatively higher magnetiztion relative to transition metal ions. Phenomena of behavior tailored by energy deoposited by Swift heavy heavy ions in nanoferrite lattice is still lacking.
do ferromagntism or defect induced ferromagnetism
Phonmena of magnetism associated with absence of do electron is rather interesting. Theortical investigations envisage that spin flip energy overcome thermal energy raising spin from singlet to triplet states. Spins with triplets states are trapped in vacancies giving rise to phenomena of this kind of magnetism. This phenomena needs proper investigation and the work is being carried out by considering MgO as prototype material.
Fe/MgO/Fe structures
Fe/MgO/Fe structures are key components for developing magneic tunnel junction. Phenomena of spin dependent tunneling is yet well established but interface effects are not very clear. Efforts are being developed to replaced ferrmomgantic electrods by ferrites and as well as MgO by titanates. Spin dependent phenomena in these hetrostructures are not yet established and research being is carried out in this direction.
